Jamie Prott
Ska-Pop punker, smiling dancing guy, crusty roadie, he's done it all. Jamie's first show was strangely enough a Charisma Society, Vagrants, and Revenents show at Primizies. If it wasn't for his second show, the Less Than Jake/Short Millie show at the Brewery, he probably wouldn't be around to this day. Most get into politics through punk, but Jamie got into punk through politics. He joined Brat Magazine as a staff writer after stumbling upon some of the other writers at Atherton High School and THEN started going to shows.
Though a late bloomer, he more than made up for it by jumping head first into working with Brat Magazine and Anti Racist Action, and finding himself setting up numerous benefit shows for both when a member of both groups walked away with the bulk of the groups' savings. His first show was a ten band blowout to benefit Brat at the 540 in 1999, which was coincidentally the same day as thunder over louisville so no one could get across the bridge to the show. So it goes.
Jamie was a founding member of the Brycc House and stayed with the project to the bitter end, dropping out of college (and giving up a hefty scholarship) to help through a financial crisis and staying on for the next year and a half until the doors closed in August of 2002. During this time he founded Thrown Brick Records and was super-stressed out a whole lot.
Some travelling, touring, playing in bands, and soul-searching later, Jamie found himself with the new nickname of Brightskull, a new label Brightskull Records, and embarking on the creation of another non profit venue in honor of his brother Dylan Prott.
