To make a long story short, there was a Crain/Sunspring show (I think) at Cafe Dog on ______ ?____ which was well over capacity. The police showed up and started trouble (imagine that), beating at least a few kids.
To make a long story short, there was a Crain/Sunspring show (I think) at Cafe Dog on ______ ?____ which was well over capacity. The police showed up and started trouble (imagine that), beating at least a few kids, and some parents saw it happen. sorry for the crappy article, I sure wasn't there. I was like... 7 years old.

There's a Courier-Journal article about it, and also a bit in Scott Ritcher's book. If I remember, and when I have time, I'll try to dig up both of those things. -- [[Jamie Miller]]

OK, here is what I remember about it.  Cerebellum or Crain or some kind of transitional hybrid of the bands was playing a show there with a local rap group (can’t remember the name,) so there was an ethnically diverse group there.  The Café Dog was about the size of a walk in closet so when ever bands played there, there were always people on the side walk.  While Crain/Cerebellum was playing around 4 or 5 police cars pulled up.  They told everyone to leave, but started rounding up only the black kids.  While they were yelling at the punks to leave, they were telling the black kids to get against the wall.  One of the black kid said “I didn’t do anything wrong, I’m leaving? and started to walk off.  As he tried to leave is when he was assaulted by the police.  People of both subcultures were yelling at the police to stop and getting very angry, but I believe it was [[Tim Furnish]]’s dad who kept everybody calm.  I don’t know who made the first complaint, but many of us were called by the police to make a statement about what we saw, but I do not know what ever became of it.
