Kangaroo was formed in 2005, initially as a continuation of the defunct [[Stop Motion]].  But the tone of the music changed drastically as time passed, thanks in part to the more melodic vocals of Andrew Padon and Alexander Smith, a major distinction from the noisy days of Stop Motion.  Kangaroo's sound shifted yet again in 2006 when Smith added keyboards to his duties.  The permanent lineup was not cemented until late 2006, and Kangaroo returned to playing shows with great frequency.
