Perhaps the Leo (Louisville Eccentric Observer) doesn't really count as a punk or hardcore publication. It's a newspaper that can be picked up for free on random street corners and in most places to eat/stores/shops/gas stations.

You could find listings of shows and larger concerts in it, groups that held regular meetings, ads for musical instruments and people wanting to start bands. Often the newspaper had articles about local bands and individual musicians and all of the 'strange' things that happened around Louisville.

Large concerts or fests (like inFESTed and Krazy Fest) were covered in it as well, all you had to do to get your show listed was go to their website and submit it.

Also, Leo has taken in many local musicians. Sean Garrison, Stephen George, and "Dirty" Dave Johnson are among some of the local musicians who have worked for Leo.
