Sometimes termed "crossover", this is usually a convergence of metal music/styles with hardcore ethics and lyrical subject matter. As of late, with many metalcore acts getting big on the radio and MTV, many bands really don't have anything to do with hardcore in any way other than hardcore kids coming out to their shows, and the sharing of similar fashion styles.
