The Underground

From Louisville Punk/Hardcore History

the Underground was a record store within a record store. Located at first in the back of Better Days Records, it was run as though it was a completely seperate establishment, which was very nice. It allowed punks and hardcore kids to talk and hang out with one of their own instead of college-rock lamers who didn't know Screeching Weasel from Strife. The store was relocated and expanded into the basement at Better Days before the store moved across the street (next to Pandamonium/Book & Music Exchange/Guitar Emporium) and the old Better Days was turned into the short-lived Better Days Dance. When the store move was complete, The Underground was relegated into an un-unsed storeroom in the back. This location led many to believe that it was gone, and greatly contributed to it's eventual firing of manager Stan Doll and subsequent closing. The merchandise was put up in the front corner of the store, and seemed to be mostly ignored by management and the record-buying public until the store closed for good in mid 2005.
