Thrashasaurus Rex was created at the end of the summer in 2002. It consisted of frontman Sasha Thackery who wanted to start a thrash band that didn't care if they looked cool, sounded good, or were moshilicious. Looking to put politics back into Louisville hardcore, Sasha found guitarist Dylan Smither and drummer Josh Raff to join his thrash attack. Once bassist Bryan Volz joined, the team was complete and played a ridiculous first show at the Clifton Unitarian church with 200 dancing kids. For the following 8 Months the Rex was known to play in punk houses, stair wells, churches, the Bardstown Road Legion Hall, and even a Lexington show. Internal strife among band members caused the band to come to an abrupt end leaving behind a short legacy of sleeve hats and goofy shows. A live CD was released as well as a DVD featuring three of the band's most memorable shows.
