Two Witnesses - Yellow Tape

Shots ring out in the night
You sleep on the floor out of sight
Clutching your loved ones close
AS you hear footsteps approach
A meth lab exploded today
It happened just a block away
The houses erupted in flames
There was not a soul left to be saved

The tears run dry when it's the everyday
What else can you do when you can't turn away

Fiends turn their tricks in the street
Dead in the alley next week
Don't look to the powers that be
They keep the crime contained
To keep their hands clean

Another home invasion in the middle of the day
Another street corner blocked off with yellow tape
Another child walking home that was lost to a stray
What can you do when you can't turn away

You don't wanna hear it, well that's tough shit
If you wanna play the part then you need to take a hint
There is no glory, there is no pride
There is just pain and heartache eating you alive
Everybody knows, wants to seem that they care
Giving each and any issue their crocodile tears
The years go on and on, nothing fucking changes
The poor just get poorer facing graver desperation

It shouldn't come as any surprise
The things people do just to stay alive
