Caravan began in 1986 as a New Years Eve party basement project. It was 100% improvised and recorded on various jam boxes. It consisted of Brian Evans (Dirty Bird) on vocals/some percussion and Nathan Smallwood (Red Sun) on guitar/keyboards. Influenced by equal parts Led Zeppelin and Herbie Hancock, Caravan usually ended up sounding like something from the Dr. Demento show. Live performances were rather infrequent to say the least. In fact, there were only two. The first being in summer of '87 for the Southwest YMCA summer camp and the second in summer '88 in neighborhood friend Steve Markwell's backyard. Eventually Caravan just stopped playing. It had been discussed off and on to record again but it has never come to pass. Both seem to be to have an unspoken agreement that trying to recreate a piece of history is for posers.
