Bardstown Road is by far the most famous "punk street" in Kentucky. No other place in the state has been as instrumental in bringing punks and hardcores together and giving them a place to breed as Bardstown Road. Running from just outside of downtown, it runs at least to Bardstown, KY, which is around 34-40 miles to the southeast of Louisville's city center. Most of the history between this street and punk lies in a 2-3 mile stretch between Market Street (where Bardstown Road is really Baxter Ave.) to Taylorsville Road to the south.
