Over the summer of 2009, Coty Capps convinced long time friend Ray Stovall to purchase an instrument: a bass guitar. Ray asked his parents and their response was that he had to pay for it himself, so that was just what he did. From the moment he brought the bass home, Swift Turtle was created.
Hardcore/powerviolence started in 2009, ended in early 2011. Get stoked for whats going to come next.

Early recordings from the days before Boomer joined are still available.

Boomer joined on drums in December of 2009, and that was the moment when the trio decided to become serious about music. They began to write better material, and revise the songs that Coty and Ray had made without Boomer.

After many practices and songs written, Swift Turtle released their first demo. The quality was horrible, but they decided to give it away for free just to get themselves out there. The demo contained four songs, and only 50 copies were made.

A couple weeks after the demo was released, they played their first house show. It was at Boomers house. A setlist was made, but they just played the same songs numerous times. The turnout was roughly 20 people, give or take a few.

Two weeks later, after seeing the success of the first house show, the boys decided to have another one, except this time with another band. This band was Pleasant Nightmare. The turnout was again about 20 people. After seeing how well the two bands played together, Coty spoke to Johnny Lusardi about seeing if the two bands could become 'brother bands.' Johnny agreed, and a beautiful band friendship had been created.

Swift Turtle didn't play any shows for a while, but they were still making new material every chance they had. A few weeks into the month of March, Coty and Micah Walker decided to plan a Skull Alley show. The interesting thing about this show is that each band was a different genre. Swift Turtle was the band who kept it real by being the only hardcore band there.

In early June, Chris Thomas replaced Coty on vocals, allowing him to focus more on the music rather than singing.

On July 7th 2010, Boomer quit the band for unknown reasons. At the current moment, Swift Turtle is looking for a new drummer.
