This record label put out small run local-only releases, mostly by bands with members from the 327 crew in the late 90s/early 00s. From the label's old site:
RKT records is an 'artist-driven' label, meaning that we are here not for fame and fortune, but to help promote music and artists that we care about and that deserve some exposure. As such, we don't generally work with contracts or royalties or any of the 'industry' standard conventions. Instead, we make a simple hand-shake deal. [The artist creates the music, we produce the units. After cost, the artist and the label splits the money fifty/fifty (or in some cases, split the equivalent amount of product). The artist retains all rights to their music, we retain rights to the product.] No decisions are made without consulting the artist first. Ultimately, we produce for them; therefore, their happiness with the product is our main concern. We don't like big markups, and we don't like expensive music. We try to price our products at the lowest that we can and still put out quality products with a low break-even point. Currently we deal mainly in smaller print runs, but with the coming releases on both RKT and 327 records, we're looking to expand into bigger numbers and wider distribution. The bottom line is that we're still learning. As we learn and grow as a label, so will our ability to help out bands and artists. We're having fun, and we're learning new things every day. Life is good. RKT Records is: Mike Lewis and Syd. We get help from our friends from time to time, so thank you to everyone who helps us get shit together!
