Derby City Espresso (DCE) was located on Market Street, on the western edge of the late '00s growth and artistic expansion zone, butting up against new condo units and perfectly positioned for Downtown's next growth spurt. Owned by Matthew Landon, many small shows occurred in the space, though shows tended towards the less-loud side of things. No room or need for double full stacks as was popular during this mid-00s Maximum Louisville period, but it was still a quality spot for a while.

The space later changed over to the Haymarket Whiskey Bar which saw an expanded event space in the rear of the building. DCE officially closed in December 2011 with Haymarket opening in January 2012, remaining active until the Fall of 2020.
