Starting out as just something to do during the summer, a few friends decided that[[Elizabethtown]] was in deep need of some different bands. Seeing as [[Dakota Coppage]] was in hiatus with current hardcore/punk band [[Gonz]], which includes [[Dylan Chadwick]], [[Wes Downey]] of He Loses Hearts and [[Daniel Montgomery]], he decided to gather some kids to form a new band. The band formed one night at drummer Kyle's house when Dakota and Dustin decided to switch spots, Dustin taking over bass and Dakota taking over vocal duties. Knowing that etown needed something new, they decided not to play the typical screamo or metalcore that had been ever so popular during HLH's reign. It took many get togethers to finally decide on what direction they wanted to go in. Knowing that [[Gonz]] is already filling the spot of the more punk inspired hxc, and seeing that the three of them were trying not to go down the path towards metal nor average hardcore.
After carefull consideration on the sound they were looking for the band approached Nikki Watson, formally of HLH, about playing in this project. Nikki accepted without hesitation, knowing this would be a band to take serious but have fun with. Kyle brought up the idea of having two guitarist one day at practice, so Dakota decided to talk to fellow [[Gonz]] bandmate [[Daniel Montgomery]]. Daniel thought on the idea for a little bit but with out a doubt accepting the offer. Now that the band was fully together they could finally decide on a direction and a name, going through several ideas the guys decided to name the band KnockOut! and go in the direction of popular 90's youth crew inspired hardcore. Many misconceptions already were arising on the represention of values in the band and the meaning of KnockOut!. The bands mission is to knockout all the false representations and morals taking place in hardcore today. KnockOut!'s whole direction is leaning on the posi side. Writing songs about being young, their friends, going to shows, hanging out, straightedge, being the bigger man, and trying to calm down kids violent nature.
