Cortez was the brain child of Neil Dey and David Schneider, begun early in their high school years around 98' and 99'. The surf psychedelica meets brit pop saw its heydey in this band who played numerous shows at Primizie pizza, Mercury Paw, Sugar Doe, and Rudyard Kipling. The band saw a full length release recorded at Ramcat in 99'- 00'. The original line-up was:
