Terry Harper
Probably one of the most controversial figures related to Louisville's punk and hardcore scenes during the early 2000s, he has been in several metal bands and is more and more setting up shows with 'hardcore' bands (hence the controversy). Billing himself as a "talent buyer", many punks and hc kids find his attitude and business practices (or more precisely the entire "business") annoying or downright appalling. Battles over DIY ethics and "the industry" notwithstanding, no one other than Ryan Patterson is making any attempt to set up enough shows (at least in the 2003-2005 era) to warrant taking some of the shows that Terry has gotten ahold of (ie. Bane, Champion, Dillinger Escape Plan). Harper has also been known for a variant of "pay to play" to which the local openers would sell their own tickets to shows to get paid.
For years, Terry would book shows at a wide range of spaces such as Headliners, Uncle Pleasant's, Expo Five, Jillians, The Bulldog Cafe, Diamond Pub & Billiards and Trixie's. He'd also branch out to spaces in Indiana, Lexington and even Central Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia when his booking declined in Louisville. At one point he was temporarily blacklisted from Headliners over a Deicide show in 2010. By the 2020s he was forced to branch out to other cities and after Diamond's closed in early 2022, he'd eventually join Production Simple as part of their promotion team.
