Astro Black Records
From Louisville Punk/Hardcore History
Astro Black Records was a small record shop dealing in psych, punk, experimental and weird non-music. It would be founded in July 2012 by Jim Marlowe (Sapat, Tropical Trash) in the back room of the Quill's on 930 Baxter Ave. Despite being open for only a short time in essentially the back room of a coffee shop, it was awarded "Best Record Shop" by the LEO in 2012.
The original space hosted several shows in the front of the coffee shop with BYOB. Astro Black would merge with Fat Rabbit (owned by Jeff Komara) in 2014 on 1000 E. Oak St. (Currently Neon Moon Tattoo). Astro Black would close in 2015.
