When Verktum opened for the reunited Slint at the Metro in Chicago, Darren shocked the crowd by daring to say "Billy Corgan can suck a fucking dick" in the club where Smashing Pumpkins were discovered. Strangely, the crowd reaction was worse when later in the set he said "Steve Albini can suck a fucking dick too." Albini is more of a sacred cow than Corgan? I guess, for a Slint crowd. The band was ripped in the press, but everyone at the show had a blast. I mean, it's hard to resist the man's uninhibited charm. Who else is doing the robot these days? -db
