The Bard's Town
The Bard's Town is a multi-purpose space in the Highlands that was initially active from 2010 - 2023 and then again in a new location from 2023 onwards. The original location was on 1801 Bardstown Road and founded by Doug Schutte as a space for live music, karaoke, plays, comedy and more. The space featured a side room for performers and then an upstairs stage in the second room. It was a hosting space for the Damaged Goods Comedy Troupe along with Louisville Experimental Festival and other events.
On January 1, 2023, Doug Schutte would relocate The Bard's Town to 511 E. Burnett Ave after lease concerns among other issues. Tragically, Schutte would pass away on February 23, aged 47. Several of the other investors and co-owners would help to get the new location established and opened. Since then it's hosted the odd performer, along with Groucho's karaoke.
