The Revenants:The Eve

From Louisville Punk/Hardcore History
With the weight of 2000 years tied 'round your throat
I'm going to laugh when you sink like a stone.
How many ruined lifetimes does it take
to prop up morals you don't even own?

Life, on the day of torment
Strife, for the day of joy
Dawn, for the age of fire
Downfall, for the stars of the gods

So hard to find your way out of a labyrinth of lies
When you're dragging a corpse
Of a fate that plants you under the reaper's scythe
A suffocation before you were born

Now, is the day of torment
Wherein lies the day of joy
Dawn, for the age of fire
Downfall, for the stars of the gods.

Progress
is only made
by those
who vow
to never
blindly serve
Slavery
and chains
are what remains
behind the wall of faith.

You hurl your tears at the empty skies
It's all you've gained by relying on providence
Your gods have left you no place to hide
When your day comes
Nowhere you go will be spared from the flame

And they gathered in the sunset,
 As the twilight closes in.
Hear the whisper through the curses
 Say your empire's falling in.
 All your rotten ways
May they burn away
In the fire of the dawn
 When the embers have gone
Know that we can live
Without you, after all......

But the path we're on would never see the sun rise upon tommorrow's dreams..

Only millions marching faceless
To the dead men's ancient lies
Tunnel vision for the chance of grace
Makes for blinders to the why.

Our arrogance built redeemers in the skies
And a hell of this earth.
And while you argue and murder
Till the end of time
I will not bow
I'll not kneel
I will not serve..
