The Whirling Tiger
1335 Story Ave., Louisville, KY, 40206
The Whirling Tiger is the current incarnation of the space that was previously Butchertown Pub and Odeon, opening in November 2021 with initial ownership by Against The Grain Brewery. Learning from the issues Odeon had, the venue would have better sound systems and soundproofing, allowing more than just "unplugged" acts. The name is a historical reference to a tornado on March 27, 1890 that decimated buildings in Louisville and left over 100 people dead.
In September 2022 Against The Grain would pull out and the space would temporarily close, with new ownership taking over in November 2022 to keep the place open. Barring a temporary closure due to terroristic threats, the space has remained open as of 2024. On the outer wall of the venue is a tribute to Sean Bailey.
