Better Days

From Louisville Punk/Hardcore History

Better Days is one of the Bardstown Road record stores and is one of the stores in town to cater to punk/hardcore/indie tastes. It used to have The Underground located in the back, which was their punk section run by Stan Doll. Now their punk section is just out with everything else.

The original Bardstown Road location was at the corner of Bardstown and Bonnycastle on the north eastern side of the street (where, as of 2004, the Indian buffet/grocery place is now). They occupied the first floor as well as the basement (for a short time) before that space became the ill-fated Better Days Dance and The Underground and Better Days moved to the present location across the street next to Guitar Emporium. In this new spot, The Underground moved to the back of the building. When better Days Dance closed across the street, they closed the Underground, consolidated a lot of the punk stuff in the front corner, and moved the dance stuff to the back. Since the closing of the underground, they have started to focus on other forms of music than punk and hardcore and few people visit the store for that anymore (which is why you can find some older stuff there easily).
