After the break up of Month of Sundays, while Jim Olliges was changing his name to Jim James and forming My Morning Jacket, Blandford and Givan decided that they were not ready to grow out of metal and formed Panure with friend Pat Hallahan. Pat's brother Chris later joined on 2nd guitar.

Panure played a sludgy, heavy music reminiscent of Melvins and K.A.R.P.

Pat Hallahan eventually left the band to play drums for My Morning Jacket. Givan, Blandford, and Chris Hallahan later relocated to Baltimore MD and formed a new band called Insects.
