Haymarket Whiskey Bar

From Louisville Punk/Hardcore History

Formerly Derby City Espresso, Haymarket was opened to capitalize on the growing 'Bourbon Tourism' market and was well placed with new office space and hotels opening along Market Street. The space was remodeled from DCE's layout to a more typical bar alignment which took away the area that bands had previously played in, but a new space out back was opened up with a larger stage and PA system. Haymarket officially opened in January 2012, with an experimental show featuring Sick City Four as one of the first shows there.

The business closed up temporarily and stopped having shows relevant to the punk/hc community after a string of sexual assault allegations (as many as twenty to twenty-five people would speak out against Landan). The business reopened for several years though the presence afterwards was very different, relying on Louisville tourists on the Bourbon trail. Bands would not play there anymore.

Haymarket would close for good in late 2020. It has since been replaced by Frank's Whiskey Place.
