From Louisville Punk/Hardcore History

ABOUT:

Louisville Hardcore is a site that was born in August 2004 from the remains of [Society Of No.com]. Not content to continue SONO in it's (then) current form or to collaborate with anyone else, [[http://history.louisvillehardcore.com/index.php?title=Bryan_Volz Bryan Volz]] took the idea of preserving an online oral history of Louisville's underground punk/hardcore/and indie rock scenes and current show listings and combined that with his (then) 10+ years of experience within said subcultures. Combining knowledge, experience, personal ideas and desires of the way things should be; as well as a unique perspective of how things were, LHxC.com was created.

Supplimenting the elements that he labored on from the SONO days with an online zine, the first version proved to be a success rather quickly. Within months, the site had become a city-wide favorite, blowing past it's bandwidth allocations (usually) 15-17 days into each month. Adding features such as a successful flyer archive, rare/unreleased MP3 downloads, and a record label only contributed to the success. As did working hours a day most days of the week scanning and typing to supplement the new history* (see SONO's history entry) also helped contibute to it's 3000+ pages (as of 9/25/05).

As the site continues to grow and consume bandwidth, I ask that if you use it alot, please donate a small sum ($1!) at shows or buy one of the Louisville Hardcore.com t-shirts. With this, I can continue to pump time, energy, and a smaller portion of my paycheck into it every month.

Also, if you wish to help in some small way other than financially, you can join the list of contibutors to the site. To date, [[http://history.louisvillehardcore.com/index.php?title=Ukiah_Smith Ukiah Smith]], [[http://history.louisvillehardcore.com/index.php?title=Abbi_Gardner Abbi Gardner]], and [[http://history.louisvillehardcore.com/index.php?title=Dylan_Smither Dylan Smither]] have allowed me to borrow flyers for the archive.Ukiah also thought up the [WIKI] - based history idea and pass it to me. [[http://history.louisvillehardcore.com/index.php?title=Ella_Lumpkins Ella Lumpkins]] has lent demo tapes, videos, CDs, flyers, catalogs, and a ton of zines. [[http://history.louisvillehardcore.com/index.php?title=Jamie_Miller Jamie Miller]] has lent/donated tapes, CDs, rare unreleased recordings, flyers, zines, and time as an assistant moderator on the history. [[http://history.louisvillehardcore.com/index.php?title=Big_Jim Big Jim]] has given sweet DVDs and rare vinyl. [Perry] & [[http://history.louisvillehardcore.com/index.php?title=Jennifer_Cox Jennifer Cox]] have scanned zines and allowed me access to a HUGE amount of rare and out of print Louisville material. [[http://history.louisvillehardcore.com/index.php?title=Lee_Fetzer Lee Fetzer]] has also allowed me access to his entire record collection and is a moderator on the history. [[http://history.louisvillehardcore.com/index.php?title=Thommy_Browne Thommy Browne]] has also helped from time to time with knowledge, recordings, and support and is has moderator status. Without those mentioned, cataloging all this city has to offer and HAD to offer would be a much, much harder task, and I am very grateful, as should all who use the site. Please add your name to the list. I benefit from it >only in the way that I get to share the information I am privy to, so think of any donations, lent materials, or anything else as contributing to all, not just some personal archive. This site may be run by one, but as a resource for all, it can be helped out by all.
